Greetings From Solvay Public Library’s New Director!
Thank you for letting me be a part of the next chapter at Solvay Public Library!
To tell you a little bit about myself, I have been a lifelong resident of New York, having grown up in rural Woodstock and most recently, prior to coming to Solvay, living in Beacon in Dutchess County. Working in libraries for most of my adult life, I have seen firsthand the transformative changes that have occurred in public libraries over the last 30 years. I began my library odyssey at the Purchase College Library, where I worked my way through school while earning an undergraduate degree in philosophy. Later, it was on to positions in a variety of public library departments, including circulation, technical services, and (after getting my master’s degree) the reference department at libraries in Westchester, Saratoga, and finally Orange County at the Goshen Public Library and Historical Society, where I was eventually promoted to director. There I was very fortunate to work with community members, staff, trustees and the Friends group to help pass a $9.3 million referendum for the construction of a new library building. After the completion of the project, I was ready for a change, and I moved to Central New York and arrived in Onondaga County in late January of 2023. As the new director here in Solvay, I look forward to meeting and working with you all! My door is always open!
