SEPTEMBER MEETING – BELLE ISLE CEMETERY
Belle Isle Cemetery and who’s buried there. The first burial in the cemetery was in 1811.
The meeting is free and open to the public. No registration required.

In addition to socializing with friends, we may have guest speakers on topics of interest, show a new movie, play games, and more!

On September 22, Solvay Library will be showing the ’42′ THE JACKIE ROBINSON STORY. Come watch the true story of the life and career of Jackie Robinson and see his struggles as he breaks the color barrier in the MLB. This is a free showing and popcorn is included.

The Third Sunday of every month, Solvay Public Library hosts an informal performance session featuring area Classical and Fingerstyle Guitarists. Players take the stage in turn, and each may perform up to 3 pieces, or more. Come and enjoy the versatility of the guitar as you listen to its broad repertoire, spanning a wide range of musical styles, including classical, pop, blues, jazz, Latin, Celtic, country, etc. Call Albert Muir, coordinator, 488-2280 or email at LBP@capital.net. An informal creative writing support group that meets regularly once a month to share ideas, offer positive feedback and support. Join other local writers in a casual, constructive atmosphere where participants may present their fiction, non-fiction, poetry, play, do writing exercises, or even just take meditative time to do some writing. Open to those already writing as well as those who want to start.
Free and open to ages 16 years and older. Bring your own paper, pens and ideas. The library does provide free WiFi.
Second SATURDAY of EVERY month from 1:00PM to 3:00PM.
The Solvay Public Library now offers 2 different story time programs for children every Tuesday. The new Pre-School Story Hour With Marie, from 10:30AM-11:30AM, introduces your child to the library and help them develop a love of reading and language. Join us each Tuesday for stories, fingerplays and rhymes. Afterwards stay and play with your story hour friends. For ages 2-5 with a parent or caregiver. Free and no registration is required.
The Pajama Time Story Hour, from 6:30PM-7:30PM, is for sleepy kids (and their siblings) who love to be read to before bed. Grab your teddy bears, wear your pajamas and join us for a fun evening of stories, songs, crafts and a bedtime time snack. Open to all ages. No registration required.
